A dual-sensor robot bug that can chase, avoid, and navigate light
Meet Lumobug — the bigger, more advanced version of our light-sensing robot bug. Kids build a bio-inspired robot with two sensors and two motors, then experiment with how light affects movement, direction, and behaviour.
Unlike LumoBug Mini, this version uses dual sensors and dual motors, allowing richer movement and bidirectional responses. It’s ideal for kids who are ready to go beyond a first robotics build and explore how real robots use multiple inputs to decide where to move.
How it works?
How it works?
- Build the Bigger Bug: Assemble the wooden body and create a sturdier robot bug frame.
- Add Dual Sensors: Install two light sensors that help the robot compare light from different directions.
- Connect Dual Motors: Wire up two motors that allow more responsive movement and direction changes.
- Experiment With Behaviour: Switch between light-chasing and light-avoiding modes and use a torch to guide, challenge, and test your robot.
Why it's awesome?
Why it's awesome?
- Advanced version of LumoBug Mini with 2 sensors and 2 motors
- Enables richer, bidirectional robot movement
- Teaches how robots compare inputs and respond to their environment
- Introduces biomimicry through insect-inspired movement
- Great for kids who enjoy robotics, tinkering, and experimentation
- Safe, solder-free, plug-and-play electronics
- Ideal for deeper STEM learning, school projects, and weekend builds
What will you learn?
What will you learn?
- Biomimicry in Action: Discover how engineers look at nature’s "design" to solve human problems and build smarter machines.
- Sensor Logic: Learn how light sensors act as "eyes" to detect brightness and send signals to the motors.
- Dual-Mode Direction: Understand the logic behind switching behaviors—moving toward an input (attraction) versus moving away (avoidance).
- Autonomous Motion: Explore how a robot can make its own decisions based on environmental changes without any programming.

FAQs
How much help will my child need to build Makerverse products?
Very little! We design our kits to be intuitive and kid-friendly. Most children aged 7 and up can follow the visual guide on their own.
Is there a step-by-step guide included?
Yes! Every kit comes with a detailed, visual instruction manual that walks you through the entire process. We focus on clear illustrations so kids can follow along at their own pace.
Do I need glue or special tools?
Nope! We’ve designed our kits for a mess-free experience. Instead of glue, we use high-precision laser-cut parts and a smart rubber-band locking system to keep everything secure. Everything you need—from the electronics to the mechanical fasteners—is included right in the box.
Is there any soldering involved?
Nope! While our kits focus on building real electronics, we use modular, plug-and-play parts. All components connect via pluggable wires, making assembly completely heat-free, safe, and—best of all—easy to take apart and rebuild if you want to experiment!
Are the materials safe for my child?
Absolutely. All Makerverse kits are BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards) and ISI marked. This means every component—from the electronics to the building materials—meets rigorous national safety and quality standards for toys.
What happens if a part is missing or I break a piece?
Don't worry! If you have any trouble during the build or find a component missing, just reach out to us at +91707501103 or support@makerverse.in. We'll be happy to help you out! We want to ensure every maker successfully completes their project!
Are these products designed and made in India?
Yes! All Makerverse kits are proudly designed and manufactured in India, focusing on blending traditional themes with modern STEM learning.
